Working in the impressionist tradition, she draws inspiration from the creative women in her family who passed down a love for art and an appreciation for beauty through their own floral and landscape paintings. Her vibrant impasto work captures the energy and movement found in nature, offering a fresh, expressive take on floral still life.
Blending fine art and design, Becca creates original paintings, giclée prints, and curated lifestyle collections featuring her own artwork. Each piece reflects her signature balance of warmth, color, and thoughtful composition—bringing natural elegance and joy into the spaces and routines of everyday life.
In addition to her fine art practice, Becca collaborates with small businesses on brand design and creative direction through her studio, Oh Be Joyful Creative. Her work is guided by a belief that creativity is most powerful when it serves others—when it reflects who they are and what they value.

Marigolds (2023) is an original floral still life by Missouri artist Becca Mercer. A full arrangement of marigolds rises from a white ceramic vase, their vibrant orange blooms set against a soft, neutral backdrop.
Marigolds have long symbolized protection, remembrance, and the care that allows life to flourish. In this composition, the clustered blooms and rhythmic stems create a sense of abundance and vitality. The pale vessel anchors the bouquet, letting its warmth and movement take center stage. The painting is a reflection on any place a person may name "Home"-- a comfortable space where growth, care, and resilience are nurtured.

This piece holds a special place in my heart. Last summer, I had the privilege of accompanying my husband, Drew, to Oxford, UK, where he presented a paper at a conference. At the base of our hotel was a charming pub — the same one featured in the Inspector Morse series. After a long day, our bartender handed me a beer in this beautifully shaped bottle, which I loved so much that he wrapped it in cellophane for me to take home.
Back in Missouri, that same bottle found a second life holding sunflowers from our backyard — and inspired this painting. Sunflowers & Oxford celebrates the poetry of simple things: shared moments, familiar places, and the light that connects them.
